ガス燈 Gaslight, King Street Toronto Feb 11 2009

Gaslight..it's awesome..!
In the middle of downtown Toronto I found a row of gaslights.

It reminded of french novel, Remarque's Arc De Triomphe. I didn't know why though.
I just watched the gaslight of flickering flames for a while
and I found that the lamp post was physically very warm of course 
which made me feel far better.. :-)
 

버스 안 사람들 People In the Bus, Chennai India Jun 2006

I felt more relaxed when I took the bus in the metropolitan city of Chennai.
Big city usually allow us some room for hiding under anonymity even as a tourist.
I didn't feel any tension among people against me in the historic city.

It was nice..

그래도 인생은 아름다워 Life is Beautiful Still, Eggmore Chennai India Jun 2006

When I woke up in the very first day in Chennai, people were already on their way work and were ready to greet their customers. The small back street of Eggmore was not crowded but full of silent energy for life. Barber shop was very clean and I could smell light scent of aroma. Taxis & auto-rickshaws were shiny enough to make feel customer better though those were quite old & not handsome in design. And I found a truck catering water maybe because there was not enough infrastructure for the utility in the city of Chennai. Though the street was not well paved or well furbished with fabulous buildings, I felt a good & fresh dynamics among people, the mobiles and the trees.

A Petit Journey into Autumn.. Already.., Kensington Market Spadina Toronto Aug 27 2009

Stopping at the vintage clothing shop of Exile I just bought a pair of light blue jean of Levis for the autumn in 2009 which has just started as of today in my heart. ^,~

Sitting at the very narrow patio in the anonymous bar I just tried only a bottle of Alexander Keith watching people go around freely from left to right and vice versa in the Kensington Market.

On my way to Dundas square, I dropped by my favorite coffee boutique 'Moon Bean' for the trial of espresso triple sitting on one of the steps to the entrance.
...

These were what I did today after golf welcoming the season of maple leaves of rainbow colors..
along with deep thought of agony..

가을을 맞이하는 나만의 작은 소풍이었다.

오랫만에 들른 켄싱턴 시장..
내가 좋아하는 엑자일(Exile) 옷가게에서 엷은 아쿠아 블루 색의 34/32 리바이스 골덴 청바지를 사고

들어가보고 싶었지만 공간이 너무 협소해서 사람들이 어깨를 좁혀야만 하는 곳..
그래서 아직 들어가 볼 수 없었던 그 이름모를 술집에도 편안히 들어가 앉아
새롭게 사귄 캐나다 맥주를 마시며 평화롭게 좌우로 지나 다니는 사람 구경도 하고..

내 휴일의 기본적 휴식공간인 던다스 광장 주변으로 다시 돌아 가기 전
커피 및 차와 관련된 다양하고 창조적인 음료들의 맛과 역사를 자랑하는 'Moon Bean'에 들러
주인장에게 눈 인사도 하고 커피 관련 문의도 하고..

에스프레소 더블을 시켰다가 트리플로 바꿔서는
굳이 제대로 된 테이블들을 무시하고 까페로 들어서는 몇개 안되는 계단에 앉아
한가로히 차를 즐기는 사람들을 관찰하기도 했다.
그 세단의 나무 계단이 괜히 편해 보였다..
테이블을 마다하고 계단에 앉고 있는 날
사람들이 의아하게 쳐다봤지만 난 싱긋거리며 그들의 시선을 즐겼다.. ㅋㅋ
.. 난 여기가 더 편해 보이는 걸.. ^,~

내 마음의 가을은 이렇게 평화로운 모습으로
하지만 너무나 가슴시린 생각과도 함께 시작되고 있었다.

the Musicians, 'the Carlizians' Kensington Market Jun 22 Toronto 2008

When I look back all the people I've been interacting so far,
musicians are the least contaminated group of people.
Far detached from any mundane value in the world,
they just focus on their own music and they enjoy.
Not many musicians can live with only money they can earn over performance
so they need to have another work for living. They are happy though.
People look beautiful when they do whatever they really like to do.

For writers, painters or composers, I see lots of pain of creation.
They need to squeeze their brain to create a plot,
to compose a melody or lyric and to create the colors they satisfy.

But the performers, once they initially mastered,
they usually get more matured as they repeat the similar repertoire again and and again.
And their level of satisfaction over their own performance gets higher and higher.

Whenever I have conversation with these guys,
I feel like I talk to lively children. I like them and actually envy them much.

행복한 가족 happy family at dining, Restaurant 'Vasanta Bhavan' Chennai Tamil Nadu India Jun 17 2006

it was just a simple & ordinary dinning scene of a family in a decent restaurant.
the seemingly stereotypical family gathering might be sometimes
an extremely difficult event to maintain or restore.. if once disturbed.. i thought.

인도의 첸나이(aka Madras) 시내를 아무 생각없이 걸어다니다 배가 곺아 찾아 들어간 레스토랑.
나름 큰 규모의 체인으로 운영되는 Vasanta Bhavan 이란 곳이었는데..

멀리서 온 이방인이 홀로 앉아 알지도 못하는 메뉴에서 음식을 고르고
조심스럽게(맛이 강한게 많아서.. ㅎ) 먹고 있는 앞 테이블에는
가족인 듯 한 사람들이 이런 저런 이야기를 나누며 정겹고 따뜻한 분위기 속에서 식사를 하고 있었다.


가족..

가족을 구성하고 평화롭고 행복하게 유지해 간다는 건 전혀 쉽지 않다는 사실을 머리에 떠 올렸었다..

한 가족 모두가 식당에 모여 맛있는 음식을 나누며 즐거워 하는 모습은
보는 사람 역시 가슴이 따뜻해지게 한다..
